Question: Axolotl Eggs!!!

I have 2 axolotls male and female (fred and ginger) ginger started laying eggs yesterday. Is there any chance that they are not fertile? they live together but I havent seen them in courtship behaviour. And if they are fertile, Wich I will inform you as soon as I know. Does anyone want any juvies?

They should be fertile, but if they're not, you'll know within a few days. The eggs will start to change shape soon - congratulations!

Congrats! I have only seen my axies display courtship behavior once, even though I have had eggs about 15 times now over the years I have kept axolotls.

Thank you for your comments they are fertile and growing incredibly fast (I had tu get the water colder so they wouldn't hatch by now) I have 70 fertile eggs. and they already have developed gills .... They are so cute I will post pictures as soon as I take some!! :wacko:

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
