I currently have three axolotls. Larger two are living together and my small one (I've had since he hatched) is in an isolated tank thats floating in my main tank. I currently have pellets, daphnia cultures, frozen bloodworms and frozen juvenile crickets (haven't formed exoskeleton yet). I would like to start some cultures of earthworms and other creatures that I can use as my axolotls mature and grow. I want to start the cultures now so I can rely on the food I have now while I fine tune my cultures. My questions are what cultures do you recommend me to have (be as obvious or creative as you wish) and where can I get healthy starter cultures?
Thank you! :D

Earthworms, just.. Earthworms haha. It's super easy to make a worm farm and they're the best food for an Axolotl, hands down. It's not necessary to vary their diet so much - earthworms are the best nutritionally with other things as maybe occasional snacks.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
