Hey y’all, long time no see. My last post here was in 2015!
I’ve finally been pushed back into the caudate hobby and I’m looking to learn everything I can about breeding a few species of salamanders.
At the moment I have three barred tigers, one eastern tiger, two adult female Plethodon albagula, and I'm planning to acquire a pair of Isthmura bellii this weekend.
I live in Texas where it gets pretty difficult to cool my herp room, so I’ll be looking for creative ways to keep my collection cool. Lately I’ve also been getting into abronia, bromeliads, and darts, and I also have a trio of marine file snakes on the way.
Happy to be here!
If you happen to read this and can help me with any of the above species let me know. I know the Plethodon are going to be tricky.

Can't help with the species, but it's great that you're back mate :) Do you have a youtube channel about reptiles nowadays? I've seen a few videos that I figured were you, they're very good and look a load of fun to make!

I do, I’m sure it was me. The channel is AfroHerpkeeper, I just uploaded a video featuring some slimy salamanders and I’ll have more caudate-related content out soon

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
