Hi everyone! I have a new axie coming home today and I'm wondering if someone can tell me how I can get my pH levels down to a comfortable level for them. I just tested my water and the levels are:

pH - 7.6
Ammonia - 0.25
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 0
Temp - 17C

Should I do a water change before I get him? Water has been in there for about five days. Thanks in advance!

Everything is perfect! PH needstobe between 7.6 and 7.4! Ammonia must not go higher than.25!
You are doing great!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
