Been thinking of upgrading my axolotl tank from a 15 gallon glass aquarium to a 33 gallon acrylic aquarium with dimensions 48"x12"x14". My current 15 gallon is I believe 24"x12"x12". It holds one axolotl and some WCMM, filtration is an aquaclear 50. The axie is about 10" from nose to tail and although 10 gallons is enough, and i'm above that threshold with a 15 gallon tank, I just think he needs more space than the tank can offer. If I do make the upgrade, would a fluval 206 canister upgrade be recommended as well or just stick with the aquaclear? My current tank is awesome and I have no issues, but a 33 gallon long looks so good in my head. More so than just whether or not I should get a bigger tank, i'm asking if there are any negative aspects to the tank or things about 33 longs I don't know that other's can tell me so I can make an appropriate decision. Thank you for your time!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
