![]() A bunch of Triturus cristatus adults and subadults found close to their breeding pond under large piece of slate. This locality was in such a perfect condition only because located in a military area. I want to visit it this year and see how things has changed. j. |

Cool find! Beautiful landscape shot. Hope things still look the same when you go back.
Although where I'm going this summer is out of range for T. cristatus, I'm venturing out to Italy and Spain and hope to see T. carniflex and T. pygmaeus |

Good luck ! I was in Spain many times but I`ve never seen any native caudate species there. I`m especially keen on to find pleuros some day.

Pleuros would be awesome, I'm also really hoping for Salamandrina in Northern Italy

Well I got there two weeks ago. The pond itself still looks good. Unfortunately I did'nt have enough time to make detaliled searching so I didn't see any newts but any fish either.

That's a lot of newts under one piece of rock!! Reminds me of one huge log I flipped in the Smokies back in 2010 that had at least twenty or twenty-five Desmogs and Plethodon under it. Nice finds!
