Paramesotriton maximum length

I'm not sure if alone the belly patterns are enough to pinpoint deloustali. We've seen various different belly patterns for example in chinesis. Some even didn't have balck into the orange. And I'm not entirely sure but I though I have seem some deloustali at HJ in Brugge that had different patterns as well.

Some other features that I have remembered by visiting HJ's deloustali setups were the braod flat head (impressive sight) and a much higher tail then the other species I had formerly seen (aside their total length).

They sure look quite impressive those animals from you Tim. If ever you breed them take good pictures, larvae of paramesotriton species differ and as such this might help you to pinpoint their taxonomy.

And by the way .. how do you get to have so much interesting links to articles I have never heard of before ??

Hello TJ!

Can anybody top this?

(19cm or 7-and-and-half inches if perfectly straight)

Yes, I knew of the specimens in Zoological Institution in St. Petersburg, Russia preserved in a jar of 24+ cm in lengh. The species is P. guangxiensis. The exact specimens come from northern Viet Nam territories.

I got them as eggs from a Spanish friend.

Here you see my young male (2 years, 10 months) with my big female wich is older.

Wow, super picture. I love newt "pair photos". And this one also makes me thinking how the heck people can say "Paramesotritons are ugly" :) Those little dinosaurs are so beautiful!
