So, um, I was about 90% sure my baby was a boy, but now people think he may be female? Help!

The splayed legs pic was from August 2018 (he was about 1.5-ish-2 years old because I got him the SECOND he was available back in August 2017). The butt pic was from today while doing a water change.

I'm stumped. It looks like enough of a bulge to be a male, but also not too big so it looks female. Can you take a picture directly from above? Looking at the body shape can help decide on gender.

I think I saw your other post, I still vote girl! :D

These were from today. Sorry for the delayed reply. If he is a she, I'll have to re-teach myself to refer to her as daughter and she instead of son and he.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
