Ok, so neoteny isn't part of my Axolotl life anymore for some time, dunno why, since no iodine/salamander/shallow water conditions were in the stress, so my guess is probably just some higher temperatures or so.

So I wanted some of your expertise advise on how to keep the vivarium, cause I've been told to make everything as if he was a "normal" salamander. but the problem is, since he lost his special aquatic features he just doesn't spend time outside the water... lol what about food changes?

All advice are wellcome and thanks in advance!

sure  There's my Teyacapan right after the change, skinny on the morph and with his special finger =P

I would give him the same tank set up as a tiger salamander. Have a read up and get creative I guess :D

As for feeding I would wait for someone more experienced to answer. I'm sure I've read that some people have fed morphs crickets. Perhaps the same diet as a tiger salamander too?

Cheers, the thing is, since he rarely come out of the water I think its a waste of space putting so much soil, since he spends most of the time underwater. The brick in the pic turned out great, for he can be above it (dry) or bellow (hidden underwater) lol doubles the room.

K, lets wait for more feedback.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
