carefully katy...if u use syphon try poutting a tall glass upright in the tank and then the syphon itno that s they don't swim to close.

Alternatively try a beer mug for a scoop and lots of patience

Iv'e been using a very thin plastic tubing and syphoning it into a plastic tub so that if i suck any up I can get them back!!! So far I've only sucked one up, but it's ok.

I like those names!!! If they stay clearish then I will definitly consider Cellophane or Plexiglass, but I like Pixiglass rather than Plexiglass. Any other suggestions???

Stacey, if you are losing them it's probably down to water quality or infection. Check out Jennewts text in recent thread 'my babies are dying'

Moved your post to that thread.

I had a really close look at them all just before and there is a minni freak!!! it looks just like it's daddy!!! It's a bit early to tell what they are going to grow up looking like, but it has the same sort of eyes and the same colour skin and patterns!!! This is mummy...

They're lovely! Looks to me like mom is a wildtype and dad is a golden albino.

Your very pale babies (with non-black eyes) are likely to be albino too, though not necessarily golden albinos. Good luck with your brood.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
