Probably due for some updated pictures, the two are much chubbier then when they first arrived, still not as fat as some I've seen on here. (Hopefully all the worms coming up with the spring rain will change that)
I never ended up getting any more then the original 2, I couldn't get the wife's blessing right away and they where gone soon after. I'm hopeful to get the chance to add a few more sometime soon but they are not very easy to come by. I wouldn't be surprised if mine are the only two in the province.
I'm not nearly experienced enough to make that distinction, to the best of my knowledge the two I have are T.shanjing, if there is anything I can do to help some more experienced keepers make an ID let me know.
My comment about them being the only two in my province is just based on how small the reptile community is let alone the salamander/newt community.
Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation
Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
