I would ask myself what is the risk of accepting what is being offered - or, in case of being online, what (information, etc.?) is required of you before you get what is offered?

Do you want to provide more info about what is happening?

If your talking about the firebellied newt thread, I don't think that person is trying to scam you. They just want a good home for their newt.

Lots of people here offer animals for free, with the cost of shipping. I know most of my axolotls were free.

If it's someone on this forum, you can look at the Testimonials section and see if anyone has recommended them.

Or ask a moderator - they might know more about the person.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
