Question: Is this a disease?

I got my orange axolotl a few days and its tail looks like this (Look at attached photo) Is it a disease or just its pattern?

Just looks like a pattern to me, my golden had the same kind of markings.

Congrats on your new addition. Please, though, get rid of that gravel. Axies often swallow it and this can lead to impaction and death :(

There are lots of threads around here with axies have swallowed gravel and it's something you'd rather not have to deal with :)
 
I would say your axolotl just has a very pretty pattern! :happy:
 
I agree that seems to be a very pretty pattern, more photos of the whole thing please!! ;)
 
Nice axolotl! I have two golden axies and one of them has patches as light as yours. The other one has more like... blurred freckles or so. (But it's also an ugly axie, lol)

Aww noo! All axie's are cute, no matter how big or small, or funny looking! :p
 
I have a golden axie that has a pattern similar to that on his tail. it's nothing to be concerned about.

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
