Hello everyone,

I've been working on an aquascape for quite some time and after seeing some success i'm looking forward to adding one or two Axolotl's! Looking forward to learn more on the forums here.

Welcome to the forum! I hope, if you're getting axies, your aquascape is not so delicate they will tear it up.

Thanks for the response!

I think it will hold up well, it's mostly java moss but secured around the landscape to look like a grassy cliff/hill. Also a few Anubais and some hornwort. From what I read these are resilient and work well in the low light.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
