D. Hydei Carotenoids?

I recently purchased a vial of D. Hydei fruit flies from my local family owned exotic pet store. Since then, my notophthalmus viridescens viridescens morphs seem to have gotten more orange spots. Do D. Hydei contain carotenoids? Is it in the eyes maybe?

Unless you are feeding the flies a carotene rich diet, they should only contain minimal amounts and not necessarily of the right kinds of molecules. Has there been any other change in their diet?

Nope. All I've been able to get the morphs to eat are fruit flies. Maybe there are carotenoids in the medium try are housed on? It's some blue goo stuff. I don't know what it is. They had eaten lots of Daphnis as larvae but that wouldn't suddenly change the color woul it? That would have happened right when they morphed right?

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
