I had a bunch of larvae a while ago and now that they have morphed I am noticing that several of them have whitish patches on their backs kind of like popei. One of them is virtually covered in these whitish patches... They are all pale brown rather than dark brown / black like most of their siblings. I will post a photo soon... Just wondering if anyone has seen this before?

I know this seems too basic, but you are sure it´s not air, right? xD This is definitely new to me with H.orientalis, the rather pale brown has been known to happen, but the white patches are weird stuff.
Can´t wait for the pictures.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
