Hi guys

Does anyone know if lob worms (lumbricus) are safe to feed African Clawed Frogs? I have found a reptile site that sells them for a decent price + p&p, and it would be much easier buying them and gut loading them rather than digging them up, un gut loading and then re gut loading them!

Lobs are fine for acf , they are not fussy feeders and will eat most types of worm without a problem.

Great thanks! :)

In fact, I've had no trouble offering any kind of worm to ACFs. I've had mine take whole nightcrawlers, compost red worms, bloodworms, blackworms.

So having bought the giant lob worms, I discovered having to chop the poor things into bits was too much for me. I am a veterinary nurse, and as much as they are 'just worms', I found the whole process too upsetting. I managed to chop one worm up, the rest will be released into my garden! I will be sticking to red wrigglers which can be fed whole in the future!

Thanks for your help guys!

most of my lot eat dendrobaorssna worms from yorkshire-worms.co.uk i buy small ones and cut them to size

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
