Hi i jst bought eggs from an ebay seller, right now im jst waiting for them to hatch (1 or 2 days away from hatching) and i noticed a couple of them has golden tint added to their colour and with no freckles...... is it possible that some of my eggs are golden??? im jst curious because the seller described the mum leucistic and the dad wildtype....... is it possible that one of the parents were carrying a golden gene?? anyways gold or not im not really bothered :D but i think it would be good to hv all three colours :)

I think you are trying to type your axolotls much to early, counting chickens before they are hatched seems an appropriate expression! Nonetheless it is possible to get golden albinos from such a cross if both parents are carriers of the albino gene.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
