After a few years, I have finally decided to get a second axolotl! Now my other axie won't be so lonely anyone :) still have to wait until this little guy is big enough to be with his older brother. Thinking of naming him "Bowie" due to his odd- colored eyes

Your little one is probably a chimera since it has two different colored eyes. It's beautiful and very special.

Thank you ?
I wonder about his eyes though... they don't appear to be a true black/albino, rather they are both clear allowing to see dark pigment on the inside of his mouth. Sometimes it looks like both are normal eyes and sometimes both look like albino eyes. Wish I could attach a video... They seem to be different colors depending on the angle they are being viewed from

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
