On April 19th my female started laying eggs on her own in a tank. She laid maybe 20-30 eggs before i realized it. So i tossed the male in they mated and laid eggs all on the sides of the tanks. Afterwards the male then went to the eggs she had already laid and awkwardly stood over them for a bit and i took him out. Figured the eggs she laid on her own would be duds but they all developed but like 2. So i suppose the male fertilized them on his own.

I watched them developed and made sure no eggs were eaten before i could remove the adults. She laid like all the ones on her own in one corner the rest were mostly on the sides and piled in the moss i added when i added the male.

what does ACF stand for and do you have some pics:eek:

ACF stands for African clawed frog, in this case X.laevis. The pic below is one of mine

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
