Is this normal behavior?

My little guy (okay he's not so little anymore) has been doing something weird lately. He's grown like 4 -5 inches since I bought him just a few months ago and I'm not sure he's gotten used to his new size.

He's taken to sitting on his tail. Is that normal? He props his feet against the glass and holds himself up by his tail. He sits there for up to 5 minutes sometimes. You'd think that would hurt. I've attached some pics. The photos may look a little strange. I had to use photo editor to brighten them up.

Any insight anyone can give me would be reassuring.

Charlie used to do this all the time, and every now and then she would end up the other way around. It was quite funny to see her leaning up against the side of the tank with her face planted in the ground.

I'd say that this is quite normal behavior.
