My Axolotl has a weird tail. Is it normal?

I've had my Axolotl for 2 weeks now and his tail looks strange. It's almost as if the fine skin is flopped over? It's been like that since I got him, but it's gotten more dramatic.

He's active, he eats and poops like a champ. He doesn't seem sick, so I don't know if maybe he's just deformed? I'm so worried.

Does anyone have any experience with this issue?

My axolotl’s tail sometimes seems a little wavy too!! Unless the tip is curled, I wouldn’t be too worried. From the research I’ve done it seems that a curled tail tip/curled gills are a sign of stress/illness, but it sounds like your little guy is okay. It’s always helpful to test your water and keep a close eye on your axie’s conditions just in case. I worried about every little thing when I got my guy but I relaxed a bit and he’s doing great, nothing to worry about! I’d wait to see what someone else says as well (for a second opinion) but I think it’s just natural creases in the skin :)
