Sorry if there's a different place to put this but I'm still not good at navigating or finding things on the forum. Anyway, I have a lotl (about 7 1/4th inches long now) at about 7mo old. I THINK it's a he, but I'm not sure you can even tell at this age. (I've read 1 year some places and 8" in others so I don't know.) I'm asking because I want to get another lotl soon (got a 40g tank recently) but I don't want the opposite sex (no babies!) so I want to make sure I know the sex of my current lotl so I know what sex the additional one needs to be. Sorry some of them are blurry, I hope these are good enough. I wasn't sure which "angle" was needed as I don't know how to tell the difference. haha.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
