If anyone would chime in, that would be great! My one year old albino female’s gills look like they are getting white patches on them. I have not noticed this before now and am not sure if this is normal? She has had two clutches of eggsand is now separated from her significant other so she is not overbred. I’m not sure if her system is taxed.... I only noticed the white spots recently. Hopefully the photo will come through— any help?thanks in advance!

Are they iridescent? From the photos they look like it's just pigment. If there are white bits on the end that aren't fluffy (fungus) then it may be gill growth.

Looks like bunches of irridophores to me!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
