Lesser siren eggs

That's their setup; just a 500 gallon (~2000 L) swimming pool. The bottom is full of various leaves and debris, along with dead organic matter from the water hyacinths..

I'm considering trying a similar setup for my Siren lacertina this summer, but because of potential problems, I am not yet committed to the project. I have a question related to mosquitoes. I do not normally have any fish or other animals with my sirens, but I am considering doing so in this situation. I am concerned about mosquitoes, especially since they now potentially carry West Nile virus in most US states. Is there a known fish that will snack on mosquito larvae that will not bother the sirens or become fast food for them? Alternately, does anyone has experience positive or negative with Bacillus thuringiensis as a control agent for mosquitoes in situations where it may contact wild or captive amphibians?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
