Hi, My name is Josh. I live in central Indiana. I'm interested in keeping large mole salamanders such as Tigers and Spotted. I don't have any yet. I'm here to learn as much as I can about keeping them and hopefully breeding them. I'm also interested in the laws pertaining to these species as I've heard a lot about a fungus threat. I've been keeping a giant leaf-tailed gecko from Madagascar for the past 8 years purchased as a young adult in a 60 gallon tall aquarium. He turned out to be a great pet. I've also been keeping a barking tree frog since last August. I've kept gray tree frogs in the past. I also spend a lot of time investigating vernal pools around central Indiana and I have an extensive collection of photographs of reptiles and amphibians. I also like storm chasing in the plains and kayaking the rivers in Florida.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
