Cyanoacrylate glue - a potentially sticky situation...?

What are people's views on cyanoacrylate glue in an aquatic setup? I was planning to use superglue gel to stick some slates together, as I had read that it was aquarium safe. None of the superglue brands that I have seen state that the glue is waterproof though, so just wanted to double check

I've used it fish tanks before without problems, but it does tend to separate under water eventually. I could be wrong, but I don't think Cyano glue is the same quality it used to be years ago, although you can get higher strength versions intended for various industrial applications.

It might be best to just use a generous amount of aquarium safe silicone then?

I think that I would get a bit paranoid about the superglue failing...
