I’ve got a question about vitamin D.
Mammals can use two type of vitamin D namely VD2 and VD3.
Is this the same for newts?
Most supplement for newts contain VD3 but not VD2.
I thought if newts can use VD2 just like mammal, feeding bugs which eats mushroom or its mycelium can be useful supplement of VD for newts.
Does anyone know this?

I can’t answer your question but it’s an excellent question. I know that mushrooms are a great source of vitamin D might be worth but loading animals on mushrooms aswell

Super interesting question, bumping it a bit. I'm not an expert at all how vitamins work for animals, but I would love to learn because I'm thinking about getting a dog and I want to everything as well as possible. It's a niche that I quite enjoy for people, the stuff with vitamins and supplements I mean. I've discovered it a few years ago and since then I started to learn about the ingredients used in such products. My favorites at the moment are the wellabs vitamins.
