I look at jack and sally idk (my salamandra Gigliolli)they are so beautiful, I know people will tell me “matt they are just salamanders,” but I really love these guys. I cannot imagine having them, but I do! I look over at their house (tank) and see them sleeping and I get so happy that that they can feel that comfortable enough to sleep in my care. It makes me feel proud. I really cannot believe that my wife and I are responsible for them, and get the pleasure of watching them and caring for them. They really feel like my babies. I truly hope I can give them an environment that they cannot only thrive in but truly feel happy. I can proudly say I’m Matt and I’m a salamander dad lol
Ps these are are my babies! (I hope the pictures post lol they are so beautiful)

Welcome to the forum.
Nobody here is ever likely to say “Matt they are just salamanders”. We've all heard enough of that ourselves.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
