Hi,
This is my axolotl Chimi. He is about 3 years old and leucistic. About two weeks ago I noticed some black “stuff” on his (not entirely sure on the gender!) cloaca. From what I’ve read, that area is prone to bacterial infections/parasites, but I’m worried I’m worrying over nothing and it could be just poop stuck to that area. He poops usually about once every two to three weeks.
I was out of town last week and the pet sitter said he did not eat for two days, which is unusual.
I have attached a photo. Any input is appreciated!
Is it safe to brush the area with a cotton swab to see if any of the “stuff” falls off? I don’t want to accidentally hurt him and cause another problem.
Sorry for the long post- I’m a worried mom! :)
