I won't weigh in on what "color morph" that is but it is certainly an interesting colored animal. I have seen algria similar to this.

I have a couple questions. First off, what axathic mean? And while I'm here I might as well ask some questions about color morphs in general. Do the same color morphs apply for all herps? And how does one learn the different color morphs?

I was wondering if diet could be responsible but i'm not aware that diet influences pigmentation s it may in some amphibians.
Curious to speculate if this is how it was born or if the change in pigmentation occurred later.

Lol, ash salamander!
As far as the coloration, I really doubt it's diet. While diet does play a part, it's usually the difference between kind of a 'dull' color, and a really vibrant color. Such as in Cynops: it can mean the difference between a pale orange belly, and a bright, pumpkin orange color. Here, it seems to be a total lack of yellow pigment.

Shane douglas:with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??+1

Thorninmyside:Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation+1

Clareclare:Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?+1
