Its been years since I have been on here and since I lost my last of my sweet axolotls
Now married with children and staying at home, I have been thinking about starting again raising and breeding axolotls. It will be a few months until I can start, but since it has been a while and feel like a complete newbie. Any tips? I want to have a few different colors of axies starting from babies from different breeders. I had a 20gal long with 4 adults with sand previously. I don't have anything so I will be starting from scratch and want to make the best investment with least amount to spend. Should I get a larger tank? Any breeders out there will have some babies ready in August? Favorite shop to buy stuff from?

thanks!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
