I have been keeping Bombina orientalis for 5 years in my greenhouse.
Last week I built them a much larger and deeper pond. They no longer sit at the edges of the pond, (except my oldest animal) preferring to stay in the deeper water or on the bottom of the pond!
Is this normal? I know winter is coming and I have read that they will hibernate at the bottom of ponds in the wild. I don't know if they will hibernate in the water this year or not?
the pond is about 18" deep
Any thoughts?
