Can California Newts/Sierra Newts be kept with other, similar-sized species of newts? I have read that they have very toxic skin. I have seen that newts sometimes bite at each other during feeding....would this end up poisoning a newt of another species?

Mixing, especially with a larger, aggressive species of newt is not a good idea aside from the toxins issue. Even if they inhabit the same geographic area in nature, the ratio of newts to area of the environment is expodentially higher in captivity. Good chance bad things will happen eventually.

I know mixing is tempting and sounds like an exciting tank but it's not worth it.
