Good. The prescence of bd and bsal within our hobby is well documented. These particular legislations are designed to stop the transference across borders but it is a pointless exercise unless we eradicate them inside our borders aswell. Some people will be whining that our hobby will be destroyed by measures like this but they are wrong, it will be an improvement in the long term. Càptive amphibians can easily can't as a reservoir for these infections and potentially infect our native populations. Invasive species like Alpine newts are already in the UK and rife with bd. Has our hobby all ready spread this **** around the globe ? Yup and we need to take action to stop it.
We have both had these infections in our collections and we have both taken the time and expense to eradicate them. Anybody who buys amphibians should be guaranteed uninfected animals. Anybody involved in breeding and supplying amphibians should be taking steps to ensure this happens.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
