We have a 29 gal tank w/ no heater and a good filter. there is a big rock and some land for the wild frog and the fb newts. the water stays around 70 degrees. is it ok to have these all as tank mates? they all get along really well, does that matter

No I'm sorry but it is absolutley not ok. This is a very common yet deadly mistake for new newt owners. The gold fish and frogs both cause a large threat to your newts and each other. Remember that all of these animals secrete ammonia and that their tolerations for it differ. They will all also look at one another as a snack. You seem to have a good tank with an ok/running a lil high temperature, but I really suggest deciding against puting all of these animals together. Keep asking questions here and not trusting pet store employees and you'll do just fine.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
