I got a group of 4 of these lovely frogs off a local breeder a few months back and hadnt posted any pics for some reason.
They are a lovely species, bright, voracious feeders and extremely bold.
Here are a couple when I first got them and they had their juvenile colouration:

awesome frogs. Beautiful. Am I right in assuming that in captivity, they are not actually poisonous?

Great animals and tank. I can see two different 'probes' in your photos - how are you heating the tank?

Whenever i see pictures from dartfrog keepers i´m often conflicted. I don´t know what i like the most, the frogs or the vivariums :D
In your case, both are beautiful so i´ll praise both, hehe.

Yes, Molch, the toxins are diet dependent so captive animals who are fed an "artifitial" diets, are not poisonous.

The black probe is for an electronic max/min thermometer and the white cable probe is attached to a thermostat which heats the viv by way of a heat mat attached to the back of the viv.

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
