Some photos of Pinky and Perky -- Pinky is laying eggs again - you can see some in the photos. Also their last lot (laid 2 Dec) hatching nicely.

Lovely axies.:D Interesting to see the eggs on the plants.

Have you thought about seperating them to prevent more babies????

Think I will have to separate them somehow, but I'm worried about putting them in with Fegg and Fenton as these ones are much bigger, and may increase the axolotl gene pool with them. Need to get another tank, or separate the one they are in - would 18 inches by 15 inches area each be adequate?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
