Hello everyone ... I have had newts, frogs, geckos, chameleons, turtles and such for years. I currently have 6 tanks in my office that I house some critters in now. Current list includes:

Fire Bellow Toads
Fat tailed banded gecko
Jackson Chameleon
Australian Blue Dumpy frog
Whites Dumpy frogs
Bearded Dragon
and a rough skin newt (not sure if Californian or Oregon ?)

Newts have always been one of my favorites ...
Especially the rough skinned ones (like little curious georges with long tails)
As a kid I remember them being much more available as pets ... and they were/are awesome. I have one now ... got him a few years ago now at a reptile expo. would love to get more... perhaps breed them.

I/we recently took on a second home in Florida Keys ...so the geckos, iguanas, anoles, etc .. are everywhere .. I love it ..

Thanks for letting my join the community ...

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
