Hey so today I been to my friend local petstore.I looked inside the tank and I seen 2 what I thought to be some kind of underwater from also known as clawed frog or the other species, dwarf clawed frog. But I know what I seen whas'nt that.It was pure black and it looked like it has little whiskers comeing out of its body around tha face.I mean it looked the same as the 2 common soecies I mentioned before like in body structure but the whisker like things seemed abnormal. What do you guys think it could be?The tank did'nt have a label and the guy said it was a bull frog and it was 2 inches.

xenopus larvae have whiskers. Are you sure it wasn't a xenopus switching form tadpole to frog?

It already had legs and it was like pure black

Could they be Xenopus Muelleri?

(Xenopus are ACF)

Also when morphing, once it has the frog body with the tail, the whiskers have already been absorbed.

Xenopus Muelleri have tiny whisker like tentacles on their face in frog form.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
