Hello, my name is Carrie. It's been about 13yrs since I last owned a reptile or amphibian. Over the years I've had a Blue Tongue skink, Schneider skink, firebelly toads, cane toad, dumpy frogs, and several beardies. I'm hoping to get back into owning a beardie and a few tiger salamanders.(separate set-ups)
I took a liking to tiger salamanders when I was a teenager and working at a small mom and pop boarding kennel/pet shop where we had one boarding with us for almost a year while his owner was overseas with the military.
I have a 75 gallon fish tank with no fish in it at the moment and I've been researching turning it into a natural vivarium with a few tiger salamanders. I've been researching this site and others for the best way to set-up a vivarium for tiger salamanders, so I decided it would be in my best interest and my future salamanders to join the site, ask questions, and get answers. Thanks

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
