Hi, I thought I'd share this video I made today

YouTube - Pleurodeles waltl "Julian"

I've had the pleasure of looking after 'Julian' for almost a week now, and he's settling in very well.
He's active, and has quite an appetite, which is great. :D

The water parameters have remained in the 'healthy' area (I'll do a 20% change tonight as the gravel could use a vac).

And yes, I must remember to clean the outside of the glass before attempting to film

I hope you enjoy the video, and welcome your comments ;)

He's über-cute and has the swimming style as one of my JFBNs female!

Aren't you worried that he might swallow the gravel?

Hi Eva

Glad you like Julian! He/she's entertaining little chap!

The substrate in the tank is what I'd call 'fine-gravel/coarse-sand' in that it's 'play-sand' which has been through a 2mm sieve.

Do you feel that is suitable?

Thanks

Hi, Ken,
I'm no expert but it looks quite coarse, especially in your avatar picture.
I've just put some Homebase playsand into my tanks and I'd say it looks a lot finer, kind of like beach sand. I can see the newts' traces in it.
If you have any doubts you should probably ask a separate question and some more experienced keepers will tell you. I suppose you've read about substrates on Caudata Culture.
Hope I didn't spook you unnecessarily

Awesome video clips!

I was about to get a couple Walti but I had my money tied up in going to MARS which was planned before the purchase and then I dished out a 1k some odd dollar vet bill for the dog and allergies.

I'm still crossing my fingers I can complete the deal.

I really like the Walti and yours look so happy!
