Question: Sick axi

He's had a tea bath and is fridged , how often should I do the tea bath?

His veins are showing though , does he seem better or am I just hoping

I feel like the skin looks less irritated. Regarding his appetite, like Hayley said if you have him fridged that's going to slow his metabolism down, meaning he won't have an appetite. Keep offering food, but if he's in the fridge don't be discouraged if he doesn't take it.

He is looking much better, he tries to eat but can't seem to swallow it i have tried small pieces of red worms and bloodworms he gets it in his mouth but it comes out whole a few seconds later. He is out of fridge , still doing 2-3 tea baths and 100 % water changes daily. ?
I wanted to thank you both again for your help.

Yes keep up what you're doing. It's good that he is trying to eat, keep on offering food.

As the red patches faded and he started moving his ferns i noticed these 2 areas weren't fading. Definitely sores, they get darker after his tea bath . They dont have fuzz. His poor ferns are almost gone . He was able to keep half a bloodworm cube. I refridged him. He is definitely better. Possibly those sores occurred in the tank while he was raw? Do they look infected?

It's a little (almost type a lottle. heh) hard to tell, are those open sores or are they closed? Are they growing?

They aren't growing but not shrinking either, one looks like scrape the small one seems like a hole

He is out of fridge doing 100%water change 2 times a day he's eating a whole redworm cut into pieces, he was so hungry with only the bloodworm cube he would try eating the whole thing and half would come out his gills so i started the red worms. The small spot is completely gone and today the scab fell off the large one leaving only a small discolored dot ?

Hey I responded on your other thread and didn’t even notice this one! I’m sorry this is happening, best of luck to you and your axolotl!

He looks so much better! I'm really glad to see that. I think those spots were probably where the damage was worst , but because he had so much irritation originally they might not have stood out as much. And it sounds like his appetite is back, so that's a good sign. You're doing a great job with him.

Great improvement! You're doing really well!

He is so much better now eating 2 whole redworms and is active I'm a little hesitant to put him back in a tank. Im afraid, he was so bad I just dont ever want it to happen again. He's safe and seems just as happy in his big bowl. His ferns are growing back and the spot is almost gone

Poor baby! My tank is uncycled and I have been checking ammonia like crazy to avoid ammonia burns...everytime I even noticed my axie is looking more pink than usual I tub her for 24 hours and completely change the water in my tank as i dont have prime to detoxify ammonia. This usually helps get to a more healthy looking color.

The axie looks much better in the recent photos than that first one... you did a great job!

do you have an API test kit? If you test the tank waters and everything seems fine, I wouldnt be afraid to put him back...but you really should test all the water parameters first.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
