Hi, I currently have two axolotls in a 40 gallon tanks and all is good except the temperature, right now I have aquaeuro 1/10 hp to chill the water to 63F and my room temperature is in 69F~76F Day and Night. My aquarium temperature keeps on changing 61F to 64F every hour, is this bad for my axolotls? is so how can I fix this issue?

A few degrees is OK, wild swings from chilly to warm is a problem.

This is how the chiller works. It turns on when it registers that the tank temperature has risen 3 degrees above the set temperature. So if you set it at 60, it would activate at 63 and so on.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
