Has anyone ever heard of chillers for hire? Wouldn't it be great to be able to hire one for the summer months?

Not heard of that. However, i have seen some really affordable ones on sale on ebay and second hand ones in aquarium shops. I bought one for A$130 that normally goes for about A$800.

What we should do...us Americans hook up with an Australian, so the alternating summer/winter schedules would allow for us to have it June-August during our summer and send it back for down to Aus for Dec-Feb during your summer. Cost would be 50% of MSRP.

I think the shipping cost would kill that idea

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
