Are there any cases of parthenogenesis in N. crocatus? I found a single egg (don't know if there's more), but I only have one female in the tank for the last 2 months. I have absolutely no idea how this egg came to be.

In many cases females will lay if they are gravid regardless of whether or not the eggs were fertilized. This goes with most caudate species. If it ends up being fertile it was the result of breeding before it came to you.

Thanks, that clears a lot of things up! I always thought the unfertilized eggs were just reabsorbed
