Here are some of my juvenile Salamandra.
You can see the stripes are starting to form.

well done michael , just got some larvae of my own .
What did you feed them on at first as larvae ,there is a big difference in the smallest and largest.

Sweet!

So, when are those going to be available for purchase?

This was a joint project between Chip and me. I got the adults and larvae from Chip. I fed them blackworms and white worms as larvae. Blackworms work better because they don't foul the water to fast. For real small larvae you can cut up the blackworms. I'm keeping the adults. The juveniles are listed in the want adds.

I got one of these back this morning from a customer that is moving out of the country. Does anybody know where I can find a mate for it?
Thanks
Michael

They are SO stinkin cute. I LOVE salamanders.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
