I have had it for 3-4 weeks, I just switched over to live food- earthworms and superworms- and am very curious as to when it will decide to transform. I have a floating platform ready, and am doing some work to spruce up its current tank like adding sand, as it has been bare-bottom as a quarantine tank up until now, and probably some rocks and plants and wood. I am also getting a terrestrial setup ready for when it is ready to transform. It is by itself in a 10g right now with two sponge filters, and I am thinking of going with either a ~20g bowfront tank for when it is terrestrial. I don't usually like bowfronts for aquatic tanks but I think it will look nice as a terrarium.

No name for it yet, as I don't know the gender yet as it is larval. I wish I knew what morph it would end up looking like, but I have no idea. It is olive green, and has darkened a tad since I got it.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
