Hey, I'm a reptile and amphibian enthusiast near halifax. I've got about five tiger salamander larvae in a mixed pond setup with some leopard frog tads. I've had axolotls and adult tiger salamanders, and hope to have both again soon, one through the wonders of metamorphosis, the other through long and patient scouring of the internet.

The jewel I would most love to find is the Red Eft, or a mature red spotted newt, though right now my focus if on finding a new pair of axolotl, perhaps even black-light fluorescent ones.

Welcome to the forum!

silly question, I can't figure out why I can't post a reply to any of the for sale or wanted adds. Is there a longer time delay than for regular registering, or is it a paid feature? I've checked the faq, and searched for info on the issue, but i can't even find mention of it.

I've seen that you already responded there, but I'll say this anyway: All posts in those sections are moderated, so they have to be approved before they show up. Additionally, we require all members be 'contributing' members, with a minimum number of posts before they can post in those sections.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
