These are my first Axolotls ever. Got them 3 weeks ago, they are just over 3 months old. They've doubled in size since I got them! They live in 3g tubs right now, I have a 40g breeder that is set up and waiting for them. I haven't placed them in the tank out of concern for aggression, since they're still so young. I have a wild type (4.5"), a gfp golden albino (4"), and a pink leucistic (4.5").

Very nice! The golden looks like it might have GFP
Yes it is GFP. It was hard to capture the glow on camera, I don't have a proper black light, just a blue LED aquarium light. But he still gets some glow from it.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
